I only knew Larry for the last few years of his life, but certain facts about his lifelong values and interests were quickly evident. Larry loved the Lord, Jan, his family, the Word of God, firefighting, his (barking) dogs, science, and conversations about esoteric topics. We had some memorable chats about obscure truths either one of us had recently discovered in our personal Bible studies. I hope Larry will reserve some time for me in his heavenly living room so that we can resume this practice. My main thought of Larry is that his smile and laugh could fill up a room. My world is a much sadder place without him.

Condoleances and respect to the family on the eve of Larry Muir’s memorial service. 🫡 Aunt Jan, Jer, Dan, Caitlin, Laura, Jessie, Amy, Jennifer, David. A memory that jumped to mind was when he explained a diagram of being fully known and being fully loved, and that perfect love is where the two overlapped. I will remember Uncle Larry as a happy and loud man, talking to everyone on his favorite topics. He had a really great voice. A fireman’s son of a fireman, he was a community and family member and leader. I’m happy I grew up with Uncle Larry to look up to. Wishing you everlasting life with the Everlasting, Jesus our Lord.

Wow, where to start? Paula and I met Larry and Jan a couple of decades ago when we moved to Portland and started attending Mt. Park Church. We hosted a home bible study and Larry was not only prepared but always offered his insights and wisdom to our study time. Outside of bible studies, I can't say I ever had a boring conversation with Larry. Being an avid reader and student, the man could talk about anything from basic construction to deep space exploration! Larry served as a role model for Christian men. His love of the Lord, dedication to his family, and outreach to others, really differentiated him from the rest of us. I gotta believe Larry is now engaged in deep conversations with the saints in heaven who preceded him. We'll catch up later, Larry.

Great memories of working with Larry at the house and the many encouraging Phone calls we have had over the years. Having coffee together, just down the hill, was a real highlight for me. Larry always brought up great discussions about many subjects but I most appreciated the ones that were biblical.

My first memory of Larry was when he answered the door, when I was coming to pick Laura up on our first date, holding a 36" pipe wrench. Not sure if it was to make a point, or because he was fixing the washing machine (which he was). It could be both! Either way, Larry and I hit it off, and I am thankful his role in my life.

I only meet Larry and Jan on a few occasions through their son, Dan. Dan has become a very special person in our children’s lives whom has welcomed him and his family as part of our family. Dan has always showed his faith, dedication to the Lord, which reflects on how his dad and mom raised him. Our hearts and prayers go out to the family during this difficult time. May the Lord walk with all of his children and grandchildren where memories will never be forgotten.

I remember the 2007 Easter that I spent at the Muir house. He welcomed me and treated me like family, eventhough it was the first time I met him. It remains one of my most favourite Easter memories.

Grandpa was the biggest Christian l ever knew and he was always there for me when I needed him most. He never let me down, he taught me everything he knew about the Bible and Jesus. I will miss him, but I’ll bet he is in heaven at this moment and he is asking all the questions he had. As Anne Shirley would say, he was a kindred spirit.

Larry and Jan brought their children into our Mountain Park Church AWANA family. What an enriching blessing to me and to all who shared those years. Larry was on the Camp Magruder weekend where the trailer carrying much of the gear had a flat tire. He and Jamie Agidius executed the plan to get us all to camp, then go back for the trailer. It worked. My love to all of you as you remember and honor your Dad.
